NHEV to start a pilot on making EV battery safer and Fire resistant

New Delhi 27th June 2022-06-26

Ease of Doing Business has invited EV Battery companies working on Advance Chemistry Cells (ACC) qualified manufacturing standards of MHI, Govt. of India to locally produce battery swapping units for its Tech Pilot of their Commercial Prototypes at NHEV Stations in Noida & Gurugram. This would ensure the real-world usage and capacity of the battery swapping units before mass-production or deployment. The pilot would not only provide adequate information regarding their thermal changes, real-time climatic impacts and correct consumptions but would also fortify users and consumers from EV fire incidents. NHEV partner company SHERU conducted a DEMO of one of the safest real-time battery management software today before Charge Point Operators Society of India at New Delhi. This pilot will reduce the risk associated with EVs that goes unchecked due to lack of technical and commercial pilots. It will also increase users and investor’s confidence on battery swapping. This pilot was predominantly proposed before NITI Aayog in previous NHEV Working Group Meeting in March 2022 to contribute with data of climate, temperature impacts on batteries from ground zero prototypes in the making of national ‘Battery Swapping Policy’.
