- Roadside Assistance and technical backup vehicles to support the 1,350-km ‘Dhurrandhar of E-Highways’ trial on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

New Delhi, 24 June 2026: National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) on Wednesday unveiled its Rescue Vehicle Fleet at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, which will provide Roadside Assistance (RSA) and technical backup during the upcoming ‘Dhurrandhar of E-Highways’ Tech Trial Run-IV (TTR-IV) on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The fleet is scheduled to be ceremonially flagged off on World EV Day, September 9, 2026, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, ahead of the commencement of the 1,350-km technology trial.
The specialised Rescue Vehicle was unveiled by Shri Abhijeet Sinha, Program Director, NHEV and Ease of Doing Business Program, and Shri Akhilesh Srivastava, President, ITS India Forum, in the presence of Shri Sudhendu J. Sinha, Principal Adviser, Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and former Adviser, NITI Aayog, along with representatives from NHLML and NHAI.
The Rescue Vehicle Fleet forms part of NHEV’s Roadside Assistance (RSA) framework for TTR-IV and is being equipped to provide emergency response, vehicle recovery, towing assistance, technical support, and charging assistance for stranded electric vehicles along the trial route.
During the event, discussions were also held with senior officials of Isuzu on future mobility technologies and potential areas of cooperation in supporting long-distance electric mobility and highway-based assistance services.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Praveen Naruka, Director, DHI Mobility, said: “We are excited and honoured to partner with NHEV and provide critical backup support and Roadside Assistance services to highway users during emergencies. By deploying our specialised fleet vehicles, we are creating a support system for both EV and ICE vehicles. A key aspect of this partnership is the ongoing customisation of the vehicles, including onboard battery packs to charge stranded electric vehicles on the highway. We will continue to implement further modifications in line with the evolving requirements of the RSA ecosystem under NHEV.”
The ‘Dhurrandhar of E-Highways’ TTR-IV will cover approximately 1,350 kilometres on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and will evaluate the operational readiness of charging infrastructure, energy management systems, roadside assistance services, and associated technologies required for long-distance electric mobility. The trial will also demonstrate NHEV’s 3E vision — Electric, Electronic and Efficient Highways — through the integration of charging infrastructure, digital highway services, and energy-efficient mobility solutions under real-world operating conditions.
The unveiling event is being reported live today from Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, as part of NHEV’s ongoing stakeholder engagement and technology demonstration activities.
