Italy names IMEC envoy ahead of FM Tajani’s India trip

Francesco Talò, former diplomatic advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office, is the first Italian special envoy for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced the decision on Wednesday, ahead of his official visit to New Delhi next week

Parliamentary push. On Wednesday, MP Paolo Formentini, vice president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, argued that a special envoy would help coordinate Italy’s engagement and raise its visibility within the project.

Italy-India connections. Tajani’s coming mission will centre on expanding economic and technological cooperation.
